Playground Focus: Values & Purpose · Lesson 38 of 38
Respect & Admiration
Sometimes it’s easier to answer the question “what kind of a person do I want to be?” than to know “what is my purpose?”
In this exercise, we go from character to values to behavior in order to find more clues about what is and isn’t aligned with purpose.
Note: you can do this exercise several times, with a different person you respect and admire each time. For the first round, I suggest using a real person, ideally someone you know. You can later also use historical figures and fictional characters for this exercise.
Exercise
- Who is someone I respect and admire?
- What do I admire them for?
- How does this person handle themselves in a crisis?
- What does this reveal about their values?
- What could I do to become 10% more like them?
