Conditional Self Love

This lesson is an exploration of the ways in which you have made self love and self acceptance conditional.

Remember that this is completely normal in our culture. Although conditional self love and acceptance is a source of so much unnecessary suffering, we’re all taught to do this to ourselves.

Examining this closely is a powerful first step to loosening the grip of these beliefs.

Exercise

  • Write as many sentence completions as come to mind for: “I would fully love and accept every part of myself if…”
  • Write as many sentence completions as come to mind for: “If I unconditionally and unflinchingly loved and accepted myself at all times from now on…”
  • Allow your hopes to speak
  • Allow your fears to speak
