10x Better

This is an interesting and sometimes funny exercise to do when you’re facing a tricky challenge or trying to make a decision.

Exercise

Ask yourself:

  • What would I do if I were 10x better at this?

or:

  • What would someone who’s 10x better at this than me do in this situation?

To get the most out of it, make it highly specific to your current problem. For example:

  • What would I do if my organizational skills were 10x better?
  • What would I do if I was 10x better with money?
  • What would I do if I had 10x my confidence and social skills?
  • What would I do if I had 10x more agency?

An interesting twist on this exercise is to consider a perspective of total abundance:

  • How would I invest if I had 10x more money?
  • How would I do dating if I felt 10x more attractive and desirable?
  • How would I pitch this if I already had 10 potential investors who desperately want to get on board?
  • How would I give this talk if it was my 10th (or 100th) talk in front of a big audience?

Allow yourself to ask this question and let it “drop in”. Don’t rush to answer with your mind, rather see what answers emerge if you wait a bit.
