Lesson 2 of 7

Mindfulness

Notes:

  • Notice the part of you that wants to deny what’s happening. The part that wants to run away, flee and flinch.
  • Notice the part of you that is trying to run towards the future. That wants to be there, where the problem is in the past.
  • 2 Thoughts:
    • Pay attention to the pain and discomfort of this moment. Being present to the pain makes you realize that you can in fact endure it.
    • Realize that you will never have this experience again. “Being here, waiting in pain in the hospital with my arm in an improvised sling and my head all swollen up… this will never happen again. I might as well attend to this present moment.”
  • It’s easy to be mindful when things are going well. When things are going terribly, it’s good mindfulness practice.
