Radical Honesty: Transform Your Life By Telling The Truth

July 27, 2021

Show notes by Oliver Cowlishaw

How honest are you?

If you’re like most people, not very.

According to the book, The Day America Told the Truth, 91% or 9 out of 10 Americans lie regularly.

A further breakdown of the statistics show that:

  • 86% of the people lie to their parents.
  • 75% of the people lie to their friends
  • 73% of the people lie to their siblings
  • 69% of the people lie to their lovers
  • 61% of the people lie to their boss
  • 59% of the people lie to their children

According to Brad Blanton author of the book Radical Honesty, the implications of lying are dire. In fact, he goes as far as to suggest that lying is the primary cause of suffering in our lives.

So what to do? Blanton argues that we do something radical.

We tell the truth. Wholly and completely. Without exception.

How does one go about doing this? Are the consequences really so grim? Is radical honesty really necessary?

In this episode, I am joined by Dean from the ikario team and we attempt to unpack radical honesty to determine if it’s truly the answer Brad Blanton says it is.
